Residential Care Support

Shanti Volunteers Support Residents at Bailey Boushay House

Several of our volunteers visit with residents and their families at Bailey Boushay House, a skilled nursing facility which provides respite and palliative care for patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, and other life-challenging illnesses.

While volunteers often meet with the same residents week after week, they also make time to listen to family members or whoever might need to be heard.

These are volunteers who have demonstrated special skills and capacities in being with those who are facing crisis, grief, and loss.  During a typical visit, experienced volunteers usually meet with several people, some of whom may be dealing with end-of-life issues.  Volunteers in this program are able to hold an open and anxiety-free space so that a resident may express and explore the wholeness of their experience.
